Comments:, You can feed baby bettas boiled egg yolk or you can put some lettuce in distilled water for 5 days and this will breed micro-organisms. Take an eyedropper and use these organisms to feed the baby bettas. When the baby bettas are three or four months old you can use mesquito larva to feed them. make sure you larva comes from clean water.

Comments:, I thank you for your insight into bettas. You have told some truths about the fish. the main one being that the fighter was born to fight. I have been breeding bettas for over fifteen years and it has been a truly rewarding experience. It is interesting to hear a man from Thailand speak of the things i have discovered in my backyrad. I also think that the long finned and short finned betta were interbred because i occasionally get short-finned bettas, which we call betta imbellis, in my longfinned batches. I also get perfect double-tails at times. In this part of the world the longfinned variety has all but taken over. I would love to come to Thailand to make my fishes take part in a fight and exchange ideas and findings with the knowledgeable bettas breeders in that great country. Keep up the good work. I also know that these fishes do not fight to the death and a lot of what is being banded about are mistruths. Thanks for giving me impetus to continue breeding the king of aquarium fishes.

I brought a few bettas from a dealer in Minnesota, but they are too young and are ttoo weak for this upcoming tournament. The fish stores/pet stores in Michigan have little small weak bettas. They only raise them for their colors are beautines. If you have a chance could you send me a wildly caught, larger than meduim male. Comments:, Dear Precha, I want to thank you for your wonderful web site. I have learned so much from reading it all. I am much excited than I ever was to work with my hobby of breeding these beautiful fish than I ever was before. I am 37 years old, but my friends say I act like a little boy when i work with my fish. I love doing this so much.

My problem, sometimes I have is, that my female will drop her eggs before the actual mating can begin. Is this because I tease the male and female too much or is it because I have waited too long to breed her? I also am having trouble keeping my babies alive past one month. What more can I do? I get worried when the water starts to smell bad and turn dark..is that bad for the fish? Could they get sick and die from the smelly water?

Every year I have a betta in the classroom on my desk as an additional "math student".The kids go ga-ga over the fish. They all want to take it home. But No....it is mine & I insist it stays on the desk for all to see & for him to see all! This year I will display 3 Bettas!!! I was lucky to find a betta bowl that holds 3. They can see each other, so they are always fanning thier fins and puffing out their gills. I know they will be a big hit. I have never tried to breed them. But someday I would like to give it a try. Am I feeding him too infrequently or is he only spitting it out when he's had enough? I have retired from active business and I would like to continue my hobby of keeping and breeding the species, especially the short tail types. Comments:, I just bought my second betta because I killed my first one accidentally. I didn't leave enough surface at the top of the container he was in. I'll never do that again. I think that bettas are beautiful and graceful, and I wish they weren't bred as fighters. Their beauty should be the attraction--not their aggressiveness.

Anyway, I always enjoy visiting your site because it always gives me great tips on how to care for my fish and to also learn more about them. Someday when I get enouph money and the room, I'm thinking about breeding bettas. I use to breed guppies but I never really had alot of luck. They weren't messy or anything, it's just that they never lived long or else they would eat there babies before I could seperate them. Bettas are just so beautiful and peaceful. Comments:I have a large aquarium with some tiny little fish in it that just hatched eggs. But I have put my fighting fish in a special area for display on my shelf. They are in round jars and they look wonderful.
I have been mystified with the whole identity fo these fish. Every since I first brought one home last year i have been wondering where they come from and how they are bread and I love your websight becasue it helped shead some light on that subject.
